Mid-Century Modern Furniture

Mid-Century Modern Furniture, Lighting, and Decor

Mid-century modern is a term used for furniture, lighting, decor, and other designed objects from the mid-20th century. Most of the pieces were made after WWII, although some of the pieces come from the 30's. Manufacturing was done in countries across the glo be, including Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and the United States. Some of the designs were created by dedicated furniture makers, such as Hans Wegner. Others came from design firms like George Nelson and Knoll. The Eames, husband and wife Charles and Ray, ran a design studio in California that worked with artists such as Henry Bertoia. Elsewhere, architects like Eero Saarinen created custom furniture for their projects that later became widely available.
